Accommodation when you first arrive

If you can, try to have some accommodation organised for when you first arrive in New Zealand.

The first few days

Many people stay with family or friends for those first few days. Others organise somewhere to stay from overseas, so that they can go straight there when they arrive.
There’s more information here on what you will need to pack and the things you will need to do before you leave for New Zealand.

When you arrive in New Zealand, it is usually a good idea to rent a home while you decide where you want to live.
